Lally to Make Ferrari GT3 Debut at Sonoma

Andy Lally will make his first appearance in a Ferrari 488 GT3 in next month’s Blancpain GT World Challenge America round at Sonoma Raceway.

The five-time Rolex 24 at Daytona winner will join the One11 Competition team for the fourth race weekend of the year as co-driver to Chris Cagnazzi.

Lally’s inclusion in the lineup means that the New York-based squad’s No. 19 entry will step up from the Am class to the Pro-Am bracket, in which the team’s No. 99 Ferrari also competes.

The Sonoma event on June 8-9 will mark Lally’s first World Challenge series outing in 18 years.

His last appearances in the former SpeedVision championship came in 2001 when he contested select GT and touring car races during his first Grand-Am title-winning year.

The 44-year-old currently drives a Magnus Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and has also raced Audi and Acura GT3 machinery in recent years.

“Andy has worked with our team and clients for many years, and we are very excited to have him drive for us in this event,” said One11 Competition team owner Peter Spinella.

Lally added: “After working with so many of the guys on the One11 team for other Ferrari projects, it is awesome to have a chance to race with them in the Blancpain GT championship at Sonoma.”

One11 Competition is returning to the Blancpain GT America grid for the California round after it elected to skip this weekend’s meeting at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
